Mystery Reader!

Today was the coolest experience Jack has had a school so far! March is reading month at school so the classes are having lots of reading based activities including Mystery Readers. We set up to have Grandpa Pete as the mystery ready for today. Jack had NO IDEA and was complaining to me last night that he wanted to have a mystery reader come for him and I told him not all the kids gets one :) Here is Jack with his buddy Aidan unaware of what was to come (I volunteer in the class Tuesday mornings so he didn't suspect anything was going on with me being there)
Doing some learning (also known as looking the wrong direction instead of paying attention)
Jack when he realized he was the last one standing which meant the clues lead to his Grandpa being the mystery reader. Priceless!

Grandpa Pete reading a story to the class. The kids really loved it! Especially Jack!

 Look as the smile!

 So proud and excited!

I am so grateful I could be there to watch this and that Grandpa could take the time to come and make this possible. I have one very happy and proud kiddo! Thanks Grandpa Pete for an AWESOME experience!!!

Leprechaun Trap!

As a homework project Jack had to build a leprechaun trap to try to catch the leprechaun that tears up their classroom every year. We decided to build this trap that looks like a hat out of an oatmeal container. Jack collected sticks to make a little ladder and put a piece of gold candy on top. Then we cut slits in the top so when the leprechaun climbs up to get the gold he falls through the top and is stuck in the hat! He is so excited to leave it out for St. Patrick's Day!

All Dressed Up

Yesterday evening we had the sad experience of attending the viewing of our neighbor Mr. Bob who passed away far too soon. We are going to miss him around the neighborhood and are so terribly upset over the void he will be leaving in so many lives. I only hope he can rest peacefully.

In preparation for going to the funeral home the kids got all dressed up and in spite of our sad feelings they didn't realize what was happening so I was able to snap a few pictures of them in their fancy clothes before we went. I couldn't resist showing off their sweetness!
