Sarah Larson M.D.

Today we had the honor of attending the commencement ceremony at Wayne State University School of Medicine to watch as Aunt Sarah officially became Doctor Aunt Sarah M.D.! The past four years of Sarah being in medical school has flown by it seems. I remember when she was first starting school we were practicing flash cards on the way to the Lugnuts game (Supinator!) while I was pregnant with Owen. How times have changed! Sarah handled the journey with incredibly grace. I recall being nervous when she decided to enter medical school because anyone else I knew who went to Medical School disappeared the whole time they were in school. Sarah never disappeared for a few reasons. The first is because she is so stinking smart but also dedicated and disciplined in her studies. The other reason is because she always made time for her family even when she was going through such rigorous training.

Throughout her time at Wayne State I never once heard Sarah complain even though she spent endless hours studying or working at the hospital getting almost no sleep. Sometimes it seems people just find their calling and I would say that is the case with her! Sarah always had a story about a patient or about what she was learning and is so passionate about becoming and being a Doctor. Her patients are so lucky to have someone who has the complete package of intelligence, hard work and compassion. To say that I am proud of her is such an understatement but there just aren't words. Sarah inspires me and is a big sister that I aspire to be like and a great role model for my sweet Ella as well.

Congratulations Doctor Aunt Sarah! I never once doubted you could do it! Here is the graduate with Uncle Paul before the ceremony!

Grandma Lila and Grandpa Terry were so helpful today and watched Jack and Owen so they didn't have to sit through the ceremony. Ella got to attend since she is easier to keep still. Here she is with Aunt Sarah!

Sarah is in that mess of people somewhere. It is so dark inside the Fox Theatre that the pictures would not turn out in there!

We picked the boys up to join us for dinner and Betsy and Derek brought Nolan and Gabe to dinner as well. It was a nice way to celebrate such a huge accomplishment!

A Day at the Beach

Today was another hot and sunny day so Daddy took the kids to Grandma and Grandpa's to play in the water a bit. Here is Owen by the water.

The kids also got to play on the swings quite a bit. Here are Ella and Owen on their swings after Mommy arrived later in the afternoon.

More Baseball

Saturday was a beautiful sunny day (finally!) for the boys baseball game. They actually played three 1-inning games against different teams in their league (this was rescheduled opening day) so it was a busy day out there. Here they are waiting for their turn to bat.
