Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween! We took the boys trick or treating tonight over at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Aunt Sarah brought Otis to see the boys in their costumes as well!

Here is Jack in his costume getting ready to head out

Owen as a monkey
If you click on this picture you can see Owens top teeth. This is the first time I can see them in a picture so I was excited.
The boys together
Jack trying to eat the candy before we opened it. He was eating it faster than he was getting it since he was being such a slow walker. It turns out he is also afraid of other people in masks because we had a few break downs because he got too scared.

Carter and Jack looking tired from trick or treating and eating grapes (clearly something is wrong with them because they are eating grapes after just receiving buckets full of candy!)

Visiting Great Grandma

Today we went to visit my Grandma over at Great Aunt Karen's house. The boys wore their Halloween costumes to show Great Grandma.
Here is Owen in his monkey suit
Jack was supposed to be a sheriff but he refused because he wanted to be a dinosaur. Here is is in his dino costume that is actually a dragon. He found the chocolate immediately.
Owen realized he didn't want to be in a costume so I had to feed him this bottle to make him happy.

Baby it's Cold Outside

We had a very cold day today and we wanted to rake leaves outside so we had to get the warm gear out. I took some pictures of the boys in their winter hats...I love a baby in a hat!

Hippo on the Deck

First here is a random cute picture of Owen

I took this video because there was an opossum on our deck and Jack was talking all about it and it was cute. Of course I turned the camera on and he couldn't remember the word "opossum" and he started calling it a Hippopotamus. What a goof ball.

Pumpkins and Parties

Yesterday we went and got pumpkins and carved them at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Then we had a birthday party for Grandpa.
Here is Jack at the apple orchard where we got pumpkins

Halloween Party!

Grandma and Grandpa's neighbors had a Halloween party tonight for the little kids in their playgroup and invited Jack and Owen along. Owen ended up leaving quickly because he was fussy but Jack stayed to play. We were the only ones who didn't have a costume there for our kids though. Oops!

Sisters with Blisters

First I want to say congratulations to Sarah and Becky for completing their first (and only?) marathon!!! I could not be more proud not just of the marathon but of the 4.5 months of training that went into it!!! You are amazing and strong and watching you both cross that finish line was truly inspirational. YOU DID IT!!!!!

My road to marathon glory was far less glorious than theirs. In fact I made it to the finish line via ambulance. Lovely. I hurt my knee about 3 weeks ago during a training run and have been unable to run since then (or walk much of the time) but I decided to try the race anyways. After 451 miles of training in the past 18 weeks I figured I should at least give it a shot! I was trying to make it 8 miles into the marathon so I could complete the bridge to Canada and the tunnel back and by that point it was very clear I was not going to finish. By 11 miles I was running and walking on and off but mostly running still. By 13 miles I could barely run. By 14 miles I could barely walk. The aide at the 14 mile marker tried to convince me to stop but I kept crying and telling him "I am not ready to give up yet. I trained too hard for this!!!" and I peg legged it another two miles to the 16 mile marker. I might have tried to walk the whole marathon without being able to bend my right leg and dragging it behind me except there is a time limit. So at 16 miles they took me back in an ambulance and made me see a doctor. He said I need physical therapy but my running career isn't over (I sort of wish he would have told me never to run again!). I am already determined to try again next year because I KNOW I can do it. My muscles and lungs felt great even at 16 miles so I am really confident that I could have done well had my knee not given out. Making the decision to stop running was very hard for me and I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. It was a lot of work this summer not to finish the race.

Congratulations to my cousins Vicki, Heather and Tracy for completing their marathons as well. It is quite an accomplishment!
Here is a picture of us before the marathon. It was 37 degrees when we started running. BRRRRR.
Here is Owen playing in his Jumperoo and looking thrilled about it
Jack hit his head on the edge of his crib while he was playing with Aunt Becky yesterday . It looked horrible right away but by last night it was much better and today it is just a small line. Amazing!

Fun

My camera ran out of batteries so I didn't post yesterday but we went to the park with Great Aunt Theresa and Grandma.

Today we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house to see Daddy, Uncle Paul and Grandpa off to hunting camp. Here is Jack wanting to go.
Owen saying "bye" to Daddy

This video is Jack "working" again at Grandma's computer. Notice how politely he requests that I leave the room at the end. Such a sweetheart.

Since I tend to forget to post a lot on the weekends wish Aunt Sarah, Aunt Becky and I good luck on our first marathon on Sunday. Of course I managed to hurt my knee a few weeks ago so I am not hopeful on my chances to finish but I will give it my all. Our names were in the Free Press today if you get that paper! Think of us on Sunday morning, we have done a lot of difficult training leading up to this day!!!
