Jack and Owen's school is all young children (up to Kindergarten), so they choose not to allow the kids to dress up in case some of the kids are afraid of costumes. In place of Halloween parties they have a harvest celebration where the kids dress up as farmers and do Autumn themed activities. Parents are welcome to come to school for the party so I tagged along with Jack for the first half hour and the last hour of class. During the middle we had Owen's first class of the year. Here is Jack's class lined up to go in the classroom.
The kids get to greet the teacher one at a time each day. They choose if they give her a hug, a smile, a handshake, or a high five. You can see what Jack chose.
Working on a pumpkin coloring.
Jumping over to Owen's class they did some leaf raking in the gym.
Throwing bean bags into the pumpkin mouth (feed the pumpkin).
I made it!
Pumpkin rolling race.
Owen was good at this part!
Cotton balls in little pumpkin containers (I'm not sure what the purpose of this is other than working on fine motor movements). Owen loved his first day of school and can't wait to go back next week!
While we were at Owen's class, Jack got to go to the gym for the activities there as well as additional activities in the classroom. We made it back for a monster story.
Jack and Owen on the right listening to the story.
Jack waiting for snack.
Jack lining up to go outside and play!
All the kids lined up to leave. You can see Jack about half way back (right behind Bailey of course).
Jack on the swings.
Jack ready to go down the slide.
Owen on the slide.
Jack trying to show Owen everything there is to see (as if Owen doesn't go to the same school!). We had a fun day at school that day. It is so wonderful to see Jack thriving in school this year. We haven't had a single tear since the first day and he is participating in every activity and really becoming a social butterfly. Every day when we come to school the kids yell "Jack!" when we arrive and it is great to see that he is making some friends and enjoying the experience! What a relief for Jack and a lot less stress and sadness for Mommy sending him to school every day!
